I've been very very quiet about the presidential election, and now I take keyboard in fingers and put up my opinion:

A long time ago, I asked myself the following question: "under whose regime do I think I would fare better?" The answer I came up with was "none." Why? Well, look at it this way:

One candidate and his party would work at treating me like a third-class citizen because I'm Jewish and gay. It cavorts with cult-like organizations which would prefer overthrowing the Constitution and putting in a religious theocracy in its place, for which I'm the wrong religion. I should have not been allowed to serve in the military and be a veteran because of who I am.

On the other hand, the other candidate and his party would work at treating me like a third-class citizen because I'm Jewish and gay. It cavorts with cult-like organizations which would prefer overthrowing the Constitution and putting in a religious theocracy in its place, for which I'm the wrong religion. I should have not been allowed to serve in the military and be a veteran because of who I am.

Sound like the same thing? Well, that's because it is applicable to both the Republicrat and the Democan parties, even though they may spout platitudes to indicate otherwise. They're both lying through their teeth, and you and I know it.

What I want to discuss more here is Proposition 8. The Mormon cult has done more than it ever has to try and change the laws in California, in violation of its 12th Article of Faith, where it says "We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law." That is an out and out lie. The cult coerced a lot of its members into donating lots of money to help pass Proposition 8 in California. It's also quite possible that a shady land deal in Arizona was a covert way of raising additional funds to send to the Yes on Proposition 8 campaign. While I type, there are people who are gathering the facts to send to the IRS in an attempt to revoke the cult's tax-exempt status on that basis alone. I myself have prepared paperwork (along with I don't know how many others) to send to the IRS with proof again that the cult is engaged in political action, thus showing cause that the organization should lose its tax-exempt status.

I have not told my Mormon friends in Utah about this. I will not. I value their friendship, but their cult has them probably spouting and spewing the same sort of vitriolic bile that gays shouldn't be treated equally under the law. I don't talk politics with them, and I will continue not doing so. I wish them well, and hope they are well, but I hope their cult's actions (and those of its leaders) are brought into the light to show that American law was violated as a means to influence an election where the cult had absolutely no business poking its collective noses.

It's bad enough that I have to be treated as a second class citizen because I'm a gay Jew (or a Jewish gay). But to turn me into a third-class citizen? NO MORE! While I'm not in California, I can do something, and I am, and I will. I'll do it quietly (except for sending the paperwork to the IRS).

Someone on youtube has put his thoughts to words and music. Click here to see and hear the result. I think it speaks to us all.
